DXRE 0.4.2 - Spodi (6 replies, 1851 views) (2003-Dec-12)
-
I have finally decided to release the updated version of DXRE, version 0.4.2. Along with this version is effects such as particle effects based the engine by Almar Joling to NPC vs PC fighting and magic to a full-out inventory system. This will probably be the last release before v1.0.0, which will contain almost all, if not all, the features DXRE will have along with most/all bugs fixed. You can find the download at my site, along with news on the game. Download Source + Executeable

Looks cool. However, why the low framerate?

Hey, how do we make the stats panel (the one at the right on the screensots) appear? And the one with items?

The framerate depends on the PC... mine gives about 50-60 fps, the screenshots' are low because Spodi's computer is always with 1000 progs running at the same time (as he said once).

Lol, yeah, VBBR is right ;) I'm constantly running AIM, MSN, WinAmp, MySQL, Apache, Sygate, and a few other things on a 633mhz 128mb ram comp... and thats all while running in IDE, so I bet you can imagine what its like =P. Sorry, I guess I should've said something about how to make the panels show. Press S for the Stats and I for the Inventory. Use the mouse to pick up items off the ground with leftclick, or rightclick an item in your inventory to use it. Right click a NPC to target it. Cursor keys to move around. There, that should be good enough ;)

2d game that requires you to have a 3d graphics card. maybe make an option to not use d3d?

I think the only way to make it so I dont have to use D3D is to use DirectDraw. But, I doubt the requirements for the game are high because I can run it off my cruddy little graphics card. Its like 4 years old.
