Looks pretty cool. 800+ FPS though? Sounds a bit... high, doesn it?

I'm with Spodi, I'd like to see what you're using to calculate the FPS.

Yeah strange, because I get 100 FPS MAX and ALWAYS, which means probably that 100 is the max FPS, but how could the screenshots be above 800?

I can see a high fps because there doesn't seem to be a lot to the engine yet other than a scrolling map. It scrolls well though and I especially like how it automatically moves around corners instead of having to manually move around them. I think the character goes twice as fast when moving diagonally, maybe that needs fixed or I'm just crazy.

Jeebus, I hate your computers. I got like 15fps. Very low frame rate for the little bit going on though it seems like...

I was able to get about 800-1000FPS. However, we capped the FPS off at 100. If the FPS goes too high, it'll cause the screen to become jaggy.. Spodi, what system are you running? The minimual requirement is 8MB video, directx 7+ Windows 98+, and 64MB ram.

Is this little area all there is to do? Well I can't say much based on this, but it looks like quite a good game. I haven't played Zelda games so I'm not really sure what to expect.

Compaq Presario 633mhz 128mb Ram, 2mb graphics card (I think), Windows ME. Oh yeah, and probably running a few viruses and spyware in the background, that doesn't stop me though! Bwahahahaha!

Geeze Spodi, lol. My first computer was a NEC and it had Intel 2 350mhz, 64MB ram, and 8MB video card. I have about 4 8MB video cards laying around. Hehe, that's the reason why the game is so slow. You can always buy a new video card for about 5 bucks.. check here: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Category/category_tlc.asp?CatId=28 they have some good video cards..

Hehe, I'm in the process of building a new computer... 17" NEC LCD moniter, ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, 200GB HDD, 80GB HDD, 40GB HDD (I already have 80+40 :X), AMD Athlon FFX 64 bit, etc. I won't brag too much, lol :) Anyway, browse around. I'm not sure what your computer takes, but you can try using Google (Google is your best friend!) and looking up your specs for your computer.. Try here next: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=695

Really, Spodi's computer should be able to run the game demo fine. It's not like you need an advanced graphics card to run a simple 2d game. If you do, then there're problems with the game. Although Spodi's 1.2 million applications running in the background might account for the low framerate :\

SDW, the game does run on his system. To me it sounds like his system is running very slow, resulting in low FPS. The game is being developed on a 550MHZ 128MB ram, with a 8MB video card (windows 98). With that, I think we get 200-300 FPS alone. But spodi, if you want to play the game in the future don't count on it. 2MB won't be enough when there is a lot of things going on! Sorry bro! Hopefully you'll be able to upgrade your videocard to at least 8MB (min requirement as of right now). We recommend 16MB though. Thanks for the comments

You may need to do a bit optimizing then. With DXRE, in 800x600x16 fullscreen, running what is pretty much right off the site, I get like 25fps. That's with the NPCs, shadows, particle engine, etc.

Spodi, the engine is only in alpha stages. Yes, I'd agree it will need a lot of optimizations. Try typing /putplayer in the console at the bottom of the screen. Also, you can hide/show the console by pushing the ` button next to the 1 key. The game takes advantage of your video card. Right now it has to load a .BMP tileset into memory, there is the back buffer, primary surface, and it has to create a surface for heads and bodies. I *think* in 0.7.7 you can push F1 to change your screen resolution. Try that, it should bring up your fps. If it doesn't work, then we might of removed that option (sorry hehe). Version 0.9.7 is out now, but our website (as of right now) is down, my friend hasn't told me why so I'm guessing they are rebooting or updating the server. You can download 0.9.7 from www.apg88.com/sidra if you'd like.

I get 8 FPS. 8 as in Eight. single digit. I have a 4MB ATI Rage Pro Turbo, and I can get really fast frame rates in the 3D code that I create, so even though I have an old video card, I know it can render a simple tile map faster than 8 FPS.
